A 35-year-old man has been charged after allegedly driving the wrong way down a motorway and causing a serious crash.
Krzysztof Stopko, of Ascension Close, in Basingstoke (Hampshire), was charged yesterday with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
A woman was taken to hospital with severe injuries after the smash between junctions 11 and 10 on April 7.
Three ambulances were sent to the scene, as well as air ambulance crews, police and the fire brigade and the motorway was closed in both directions.
One witness said he had to 'double take' when he saw the driver travelleing against the flow of traffic.
Officers were called to reports of a black Seat Leon travelling the wrong way on the London-bound carriageway.
It then collided with another car, causing serious injuries to a passenger who then had to be cut from the car.
The driver allegedly seen travelling against the flow of traffic in the outside lane suffered minor injuries.
Stopko will appear before magistrates in Folkestone on Monday, July 18.
