Police have slapped another dispersal order on unruly yobs to keep them out of Ashford town centre after a spate of anti-social incidents across the town.

The news follows previous orders issued at shopping precincts on the Stanhope and Bybrook estates where residents have reported being terrorised by the gangs of youths in the last week.

Six teenagers are wanted in connection with two assaults in Stanhope last weekend, where a 15-year-old girl was attacked by a yob wielding a plank of wood.

Residents reported youths hanging around the shops in Speldhurst Close, and a the first dispersal order was issued last weekend.

Then on Monday night a second order was issued after trouble at the Bockhanger shops in Belmont Road and Bybrook Road.

Now, according to Kent Police’s Twitter information page, the youths have been told to keep out of the town centre from 4pm today for a further 48 hours.

A police spokesman said a large group of youths had gathered in the High Street earlier this afternoon (Friday, February 26).

The spokesman said: “Due to the nature of their behaviour a dispersal order was imposed, using powers in the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime, and Policing Act. As a result the group left the area.”

The order gives police officers the powers to direct a person, or persons, who have committed or are likely to commit anti-social behaviour away from a specified area and order them not to return to it for 48 hours.
