A police search was launched after yobs were reported to be setting off fireworks in a residential area last night.

Officers were called to the Grasmere Road area of Kennington, Ashford, at 6.30pm.

Reports to police said four young people were seen letting off the explosives.

But after officers attended and carried out a search of the area no one was located.

Kent Police's Ashford division later took to their Twitter account condemning the "irresponsible and illegal" behaviour.
