KENT Police have appealed for information after a 21-year-old man walking home after a night out was threatened with a flick knife.

The incident happened as the victim was walking along Romney Marsh Road towards New Town bridge at Ashford on Friday (August 12) shortly after 2am.

Without warning, he was forced to turn around by one of a group of four men and asked to hand over property. He was then threatened with a flick knife by one of the thugs.

At this point an unknown member of the public intervened and the four men walked off towards the McArthur Glen designer outlet village and under New town Bridge.

The person who intervened walked off towards South Ashford after making sure the 21-year-old was all right. Police arrived and an officer and police dog carried out a search of the area which proved negative.

The offender who first made contact with the man, is described as white, 6ft tall, fat build, and a double chin. He had a chubby face and was "spotty" under his eyes.

He spoke with a 'chav-like' cockney accent, and he was wearing a black Nike baseball cap with a white silver tick, a red hooded top, light blue baggy tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

The second man, who produced the flick knife, is described as white, tall and thin and had a mark, possible a mole, on his right cheek.

He was wearing a dark baseball cap, navy hooded top and bottoms and white trainers.

The knife had a black handle and a silver blade.

Police would also like to contact the member of the public who assisted the young man to see if vital information may be gained.
