Hythe’s Ronnie Dolan is set to train with Conference Premier new-boys Welling United in pre-season.
The 20 year-old wants to test himself at a higher level, but boss Scott Porter says he would welcome him back at Reachfields oif things don’t work out.
Porter said: Ronnie wants to try his luck at a higher level, but he goes with my best wishes, and I have the door open.”
Dolan joined Hythe from Ashford Town two seasons ago, and has been a regular member of the side.
Meanwhile Porter completed his third summer signing with the arrival of midfielder Sam Bewick. The former QPR youngster has joined from Herne Bay and has also had spells with Maidstone and Tonbridge Angels.
He said: “Sam spoke to a couple of other Kent sides, but is my sort of a player. He is an energetic box-to-box player, gives us quality, experience and youth at this level, and ticks all the boxes.
“He knows Ryan Cooper and played with Shaun Welford at Maidstone, so there’s a connection, but I think he liked what he saw and heard we are doing as a club.”
Porter is still waiting on a decision from his other midfield target, and hopes things might happen in the next few days."
