They fared well, to the delight of coach Lisa Collins.

“Congratulations to all these ladies,” said Collins. “I am so proud of their accomplishments and the amazing community they have developed here.

“We believe in developing women’s confidence, fitness and self-protection awareness through essential martial arts skills for the 21st century.

“We have mums and daughters in the group, as well as a number of mums who have children and partners in our karate classes, which means families can train together and all gain the benefits.

“I truly believe in making women stronger and more confident to protect themselves, so it is exciting to see the achievement in the women here and the impact the classes are having on their confidence and mental health.”

Canton celebrate their first anniversary with an open evening class at Norton Knatchbull School on Monday, March 13 (7pm).

Women and girls, aged 13 and over, are invited to attend the free event. To book your space, contact the club on 07444 407911.
