Kennington have left no stone unturned going into their FA Vase second qualifying round clash against Shoreham.
They meet at Homelands on Sunday (1pm) with the Ton aiming to reach the first round proper for the second season running.
Dan Scorer’s side go into the tie in confident mood, having won all four games in Southern Counties East Division 1, including a 4-0 victory at Stansfeld last weekend.
They also beat Erith Town, from the division above, in the previous round of the Vase.
It’s all about continuing momentum for manager Scorer, who has done his homework on Shoreham.
He went to watch their 4-1 win over East Preston on Tuesday night, a result that leaves them sixth in Division 1 of the Southern Combination League.
Scorer is hoping his attention to detail pays off. He said: “We’ve had a fantastic start to the season, so the momentum’s on our side.
“Performances have consistent as well, which is brilliant, and we’ve had four clean sheets on the bounce.
“The Vase is normally a welcome distraction from the league but the fact we’ve got two big games coming up, it’s not really an opportunity to push everything to one side.
“We’re treating it as though it’s a league game and we want to keep putting points on the board.
“We had a look at Shoreham on Tuesday night, so we’ve done our homework.
“We’ve made sure we know what threats they pose.
"That’s another thing we’ve stepped up this year as a management team, we make we do as much as we can to prepare the boys, so we’re aware of other teams.
"Looking at Shoreham, they’ve certainly got the right players in the right areas.
"We’ll make sure we do all we can to nullify their strengths but I don’t want to read too much into them.
“As long as we play our own game, I’m hoping we’ll be fine.”
If Shoreham have looked at Kennington, they’ll see a team bang in form.
“Early on in the season all the managers look at results and keep an eye on teamsheets,” said Scorer.
“Anyone outside looking in will see we’ve been consistent in our starting XI each week, with one or two changes maximum, so we’re trying to keep the core of the side the same.
“There might be an opportunity to change one or two at the weekend because I want to keep everyone interested.
“I hated it when I was a player and wasn’t involved but when you look at how well the boys are performing, you can’t really argue.”
Regan Mendes (hamstring) is Kennington’s only absentee.
