New Ashford coach Darren Hall is targeting bringing National League rugby to Kinneys Field.

Ashford in action.

The 31-year-old South African this week outlined his objectives, saying: “I am ambitious and want to take them to the next level.

“If we are smart and calculated, we could be there in three years.

“Success will be down to hard work and determination and I am ready to put the hard work in with the players, mentally, physically and tactically.”

Hall, who started work on July 2 has overseen two or three training sessions a week so far

He added: “The players have been excellent and receptive, buying into what I want to do.

“We have got a good squad and will work tirelessly to achieve our goals. We will be aiming for promotion this season.

“They have surprised me with the professionalism they have shown for a grassroots club, having completely changed the way they do things, bringing flair and flavour to the job.”

He also revealed plans to use video analysis on every player in training and pre-season matches, with new assistant, former team manager Alan Ferris, filming every league game, using live data in matches.

Hall has brought in two players - fellow South African Josh Sherin, and Wayne Elloway. who played under him at former clubs Bury and Eccles.

The new London South East 2 season starts on September 19 with a trip to Old Colfeians - a repeat of last season's opening day fixture which Ashford lost 35-34.
