Leon Camier had a birthday to remember as he claimed his first podium of the season in the FIM World Superbike Championships, at Silverstone on Sunday.
The Ashford-born rider celebrated turning 27 in style, with his two best finishes of the season so far, finishing third and fifth on what proved a great weekend for the FIXI Crescent Suzuki outfit highlighted by team-mate, Frenchman Jules Cluzel finishing second in race two, the team's best-ever result.
Camier, who remains 10th in the overall standings, missed out on runners-up spot in his first outing in a last lap battle with Eugene Laverty.
He said: "I made a pass on Eugene on the last lap, but he came back past me on the straight, and I couldn't do anything about that. I tried again to get past him, as I felt I was on the limit.
"I got a better start in the second race, and the bike was working really well. The guys on the team did a great job over the weekend, and towards the end I felt stronger than everyone else.
"I thought I had the speed to win the race, so I was disappointed with the result."
Camier added: "I want to say a big 'well done' to Jules, he rode two really good races, and it was great to see him get that result in the second race, not just for him, but for the whole team and the sponsors who were there."
