Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley planning a triple signing to boost squad

Neil Cugley hopes to sign two players before Folkestone Invicta’s Ryman League, Division 1 South home game against Peacehaven & Telscombe on Saturday.

The Cheriton Road boss is chasing a midfielder and striker after injuries to strikers Johan Ter Horst and Dane Luchford left him short of firepower.

Cugley is also hoping to land a further frontman and hopes he might arrive in time for the re-arranged Kent Senior Cup tie against holders Charlton Athletic on Monday (7.45pm).

Ter Horst is facing a lengthy lay-off. He suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone after colliding with the Molesey goalkeeper, heading in Invicta’s third goal in the 3-3 FA Cup Preliminary Round draw against their Combined Counties League opponents from Surrey on Saturday.

Defender Frankie Chappell and Stuart King added the other goals for Folkestone, with Invicta 2-0 and 3-2 ahead in the tie.

Luchford is nursing a hamstring problem he picked up against Hythe last month.

Cugley said yesterday (Wednesday): “I have put seven-day approaches in on two players and hope they go through soon.

“If we get all three then others might have to go.”

Cugley added: “It was a great header by Johan, very brave, but the keeper took him out. I don’t know how long he will be out for at the moment. It is a small fracture but the doctors are still waiting for the swelling to go down.”
