Gregor Dougall wants Ashford to make home advantage count when the London South East 2 season resumes against Beckenham on Saturday.

They sit second bottom, with only two wins from nine games , four points behind Old Colfeians, and only Aylesford Bulls below them, but with six of their remaining nine games at home, head coach Dougall believes it’s a perfect chance to improve.

He said: “I am looking at this as being the start of our season. We have seen the lie of the land and know we can beat these teams if we perform. “I am confident we can produce big performances, pick up points and climb the table.

“Historically, home form is a big thing in this league, a lot of sides seem not to be able to perform when they go away.”

Mixed news on the injury front sees both winger Farai Myezwa and second-row man Elliot Cohen (pictured) set to miss the rest of the season.

Myezwa hasn’t featured since suffering a shoulder injury in a warm-up game, while Cohen faces an operation after dislocating his elbow in October.

Gary Croxton, sidelined since last April with a serious knee injury, is back running and doing non-contact training. He hopes to have a second team outing before the end of the month.
