THERE WILL be an early start for runners and supporters for this year's Quest 10 road race in Ashford, with the main race starting at 8.30am on October 14.

The change in the start time has been forced by the police and Highways officials, but organisers Ashford Athletic Club are making the best of it by billing this year's race as the Breakfast Run.

In keeping with the new start they are offering a continental style breakfast bag included in each runner's entry fee which has been held at £5 for UKA affiliated runners and £6 for unaffiliated runners.

Entry on the day is £7.

The popular children's fun runs will start at the later time of 10.30am after the main event.

The presentations for the main race, which will include the Kent 10k championships and Grand Prix Series, will be at 10am.

The race is the last in the series for the championships and is set to be a battle royal at the top of the field.

But the organisers are hoping that all the fun runners will continue to support the event with its fast, rural course that was enjoyed by the runners last year.

All finishers will receive a commemorative medal and there are awards to the top four men and women, leading three veterans (men 40+ and women 35+) as well the top veterans (50+/45+) and (60+/55+).

There will be three children's runs - Under-9s, 10-13 and 14-15 runners.

Entry forms are available from the Julie Rose Stadium and Stour Centre and for more forms write to the race organiser at Claypit, Bromley Green Road, Ashford, Kent TN26 2EQ.
