Ashford United Ladies have partnered with the campaign group Her Game Too, to help promote football as a game for all and encourage other females into the sport.

Her Game Too was set up three years ago by a group of passionate female football fans, who aim to stamp out gender discrimination and misogyny in football and champion women in all roles in the game.

Ashford United Ladies are on board with the Her Game Too initiative.

The campaign has more than 100 volunteers at clubs across the country, who work to ensure football grounds and clubs are welcoming and comfortable places for women to visit and play at.

They also co-ordinate activities and events promoting Her Game Too’s values and share positive stories of the achievements of women in football on social media.

Her Game Too has partnered with 74 out of the 92 Premier League and English Football League clubs, as well as hundreds of non-league and grassroots clubs, leagues, pubs and other organisations.

More than 50 clubs recently dedicated fixtures to the campaign around International Women’s Day, to acknowledge and celebrate the many different roles females play in all levels of foot-ball.

Ashford midfielder Jenny Newman said: “We are proud to have partnered with this fantastic organisation, with the shared goal of promoting football as a game for all.

“As players, we are committed to setting a positive example for all young girls, as well as encouraging women in other roles within the game.

“Hopefully through this partnership we can break down barriers and leave a lasting legacy for the next generation.”
