Southern Counties East League round-up: Kennington get first win, Glebe extend lead with late penalty, Erith Town hit six past Welling Town

Kennington got their first win of the season after beating Stansfeld at Homelands in the Premier Division on Saturday.

It was Kennington’s 11th league game but only their second at home after a new 3G pitch was installed by landlords Ashford United.

Goals from Ryan Philpott and Mo Cham in the first half were added to by Fin Dent in the final minute to wrap up the points.

A game of three successful penalties saw leaders Glebe extend their advantage at the top of the table.

Glebe won 2-1 at Hollands & Blair, the final spot-kick being converted by substitute Jamie Philpot in the 90th minute.

Ali Fofanah had put Glebe ahead after 10 minutes before Harry Brown equalised from the spot early in the second half after a handball in the area.

With Faversham’s trip to Tunbridge Wells falling victim to a waterlogged pitch, Erith Town ran out 6-0 winners at Welling Town to move up to second.

The Dockers led 4-0 at the break through Harry Taylor, Ollie Milton, James Miles and Henry Arnold. Milton and Miles added to their tally in the second half.

Corinthian lost ground on the leading pack after Dan Melvin’s 13th-minute goal was enough to give Bearsted three points at Honey Lane.

Lordswood have still only lost once in the league this season, James Jeffery scored from the penalty spot midway through the second half to claim a 1-0 success at Fisher.

Whitstable made it four wins in a row but they left it late to defeat VCD 2-1 at The Belmont.

Ben Fitchett put VCD ahead but Josh Oliver’s penalty levelled the scores before Josh Williams claimed his seventh goal of the season with five minutes left.

Snodland are up to fifth following a 3-0 win at home to Sutton Athletic.

Matt Gething scored in the first minute and Jack Bath in the second minute of the second half before Jeff Duah-Kessie wrapped up the points late on.

Cruis Nyadzayo scored two goals in the last three minutes as Punjab United defeated Lydd 3-1.

Chris Edwards’ penalty for Punjab early in the second half had been cancelled out by Tyler Sterling’s goal eight minutes from time.

Football results and fixtures

Deal’s game at home to Rusthall was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
