Johan ter Horst has left Folkestone Invicta in a bid for regular first-team football.
The 25-year-old striker has opted to drop down a division to play for Isthmian South East Ashford United.
He made his debut in their 2-0 FA Cup Preliminary Round win over Whitehawk on Saturday.
Ter Horst said: “With the new season under way, I wanted to take the chance to say thank you to everyone at Folkestone Invicta for their support over the last few years.
“It had been made clear that I was unlikely to get many first-team opportunities at the club this season, so I’ve decided to pursue regular football elsewhere.
“I’ve had some hugely enjoyable times at the club, in a great dressing room, and with brilliant backing from the supporters.
“Because of my journey with Invicta, the club will, of course, always be a special one in my career, and who knows what the future holds.
“But right now, I’m excited by my next challenge with Ashford United, which began with a great FA Cup win today. Good luck to all at Folkestone Invicta for the rest of the season.”
Ter Horst rejoined Invicta in February 2018 after a loan spell earlier that season from Maidstone.
He originally came through the club’s youth system before moving to then Premier League club Hull City in 2014 , where he stayed for three years before returning to Kent with the Stones .
