TIM KINGSTON: Was hit by cramp and puncture problems

KENT triathlete Tim Kingston finished a disappointing 30th in his age group in the World Duathlon Championships in Hungary.

He suffered cramp and puncture problems during the event and was unable to match his position of 16th last year.

Deal Tri Club's Kingston, who is from Ashford, said: "Out on the bike the large field made it hectic on the first of the three laps. Each lap had six tight U-turns on an otherwise pretty flat and fast course.

"Unfortunately, the effects of the run started to come through and I started to struggle with calf cramp and had to slow a little. On the last turn, I realised I had punctured."

On a positive note, Kingston had the seventh-fastest bike split, but he struggled in the final 5km run crossing the line in 1:50.
