Ashford golfer Benn Barham had his best week of the season with a superb joint fourth place finish in the European Tour event at Newport in Wales.

The 32-year-old pulled up to 104th in the order of merit with his fine display in the Celtic Manor Wales Open.

A second round 64 was the heart of his superb 13 under score of 271 that left him nine shots off leader Scott Strange of Australia.

Benn opened with a first round 69 and carded a third round 70 and finished with a fine 68.
