Leon Camier has teamed up with MotoGP racing ace Casey Stoner during the winter months in preparation for the British Superbike Championship.
Camier finished last season’s BSB championship in fifth position and he’s now eyeing up the title for the coming season.
Stoner, the 2007 MotoGP champion, finished second last season to Italian Valentino Rossi. He and Camier are friends from their time racing together in the British 125cc Championship.
Camier managed three wins on the Ducati last season but will be going for glory this season with the Airwaves Yamaha team. He has spent time in Switzerland with Stoner since the end of last season and the pair then headed for Australia.
“I’ll stay until testing starts,” said Ashford’s Camier. “Training is always so much easier when you’ve got guaranteed good weather.
“When I was over in Australia last winter with Casey I was still playing catch-up with my fitness levels and trying to get my leg back up to full strength but what a difference a year makes. This year there’s no stopping me, we can really push each other.
“I can’t wait to get testing under way on the new Airwaves Yamaha. Everyone at GSE Racing is so determined to take home a fifth Championship title.”
