Ashford United have added a couple of defenders to their squad ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Bradley Simms arrives from VCD Athletic while Ben Gorham joins after most recently playing for Southern Counties East side Beckenham towards the end of 2019/20.
Simms is described as a versatile full-back and he was at their Isthmian South East rivals VCD last season.
Central defender Gorham includes Canterbury City, Herne Bay and Sevenoaks as his former teams. He left Greatness Park for Beckenham Town in February.
Young striker Levi Gold is one of the latest from last season’s squad to commit to the Nuts & Bolts for another year, following on from Sam Mott, Jake McIntyre, Josh Wisson, Tommie Fagg, Jay May, Aaron Condon and Theo Osinfolarin who have all confirmed their allegiance.
Ashford boss Tommy Warrilow recently said the club would be operating with a reduced playing budget for next season.
He said: “Not only did we lose income from the last remaining home matches due to the 2019/2020 season being voided, but there’s a lot of lost income from many cancelled functions that were planned to be held in the club’s function rooms from April, and that will remain until the club are once again allowed to host such events.
“Don (Crosbie, club director) has given me a figure to start with, and hopefully once we get up and running in 2020/2021 we can improve on that figure as possible sponsorships and other forms of revenue come back into the club.”
One of those from last season’s squad to leave is Ben Wilson, one of several players signing on for 20/21 at Ramsgate.
