Kent athlete Lisa Dobriskey triumphed in the Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile in New York on Sunday.
The 24-year-old continued her good form since finishing fourth in the 1,500m at the Beijing Olympics with an impressive victory ahead of American Shannon Rowbury.
Kenyan Rose Kosgei took an early lead, but Dobriskey came back and matched her pace with 400m to go.
Dobriskey and Rowbury then passed the leader and, in a close finish, the Ashford athlete out-kicked her rival to win.
The Commonwealth champion ran 4min18.6sec, which was the second-fastest Fifth Avenue Mile-winning time behind Patti Sue Plumer's 4.16.68 in 1990.
Rowbury finished with a time of 4.19.2.
