ASHFORD Athletics Club’s Lisa Dobriskey added another gold to her growing list of major titles when she won the British Universities long course cross-country crown in Dundee.
Dobriskey, who is doing her degree course at Loughborough University, helped them to another women’s team title with a storming victory over the testing 6km run.
She put in a superb last mile to win the race in 23:48, nine seconds ahead of her Loughborough team-mate Louise Damen with Faye Fullerton (St Mary’s Twickenham) third in 24:13.
It was sweet revenge for Dobriskey who was fourth in the event last year in a similar time when the title was taken by team-mate Damen.
With six finishers in the first 13, Loughborough retained the team title with seven points from St Mary’s (23) and Loughborough B (31).
The victory ensured her automatic selection for the World University cross-country championships being held at Collegno in Italy in March.
Dobriskey is also looking to do short course cross-country running as well. The talented Littlestone runner is also a winner on the track for the university, holding the BUSA 800m crown and is already an experienced international.
