KENT youngster Lana-Emily Foyle has shown an early flair for the multi-discipline sport of modern triathlon.

The 10-year-old from Ashford has just secured a national ranking of fifth in her age group helping the North Kent Modern Pentathlon Club team take gold at the national championships in Wolverhampton.

Just 20 qualified from the whole of the UK and Lana was hoping to take about 12th so was thrilled to make it into the top five.

Lana, already a talented gymnast who has claimed county titles with the Pegasus Club in Maidstone, got a taste for the demanding event sport after being introduced to biathlon at Ashford Friars School.

In modern triathlon she has to shoot, run and swim and has already had success with the school in biathlon where there is no shooting.

In a few weeks time she represents the school in the Schools Biathlon Championships.
