Ashford Athletics Club’s Janine Brown was among the silverware with a magnificent victory in the National Police Track And Field Championships at Uxbridge.
After a trip back to Hawaii as her preparation Janine defied the jet lag, finishing fifth in the 5,000m.
She then threw a lifetime best in the javelin with 27.22m to take sixth and returned to the track for her favoured event, the 1500m.
She made a muscle-burning break for home from 600m to win in convincing style in 5:02.2 to finish 18 seconds clear of her nearest rival.
It was her first gold at these championships and dazzled the Met Police Commander, Julian Bennett, at the presentations with her Hawaiian shorts but was thrilled to lift the magnificent trophy.
Now working for Kent Police the Folkestone runner will be eager to help Ashford gain vital points as they battle against relegation at their final UK Women’s League match at the Julie Ros track on August 3.
