Darren Hall has been named as Ashford Rugby Club’s new head coach.
The South African’s appointment was confirmed this week and will meet his new players for the first time when pre-season starts on Thursday, July 2.
Chairman John Norman said: “We saw some good candidates but Darren’s professionalism, attitude and positivity shone through.
“He has a record of going into clubs and turning them around and getting results.”
Hall is moving South from Bury, who finished third in Northern League Division 2 last season.
He also had a spell at Rye in East Sussex.
He replaces Gregor Dougall, who left the club halfway through last season following 18 months in charge at Kinneys Field.
A former junior Springbok, Hall took up coaching when his playing career was ended by injury and moved to England five years ago.
He said: “Rugby is my passion, my life and I pride myself on my results.”
Norman added: “We are looking forward to working with Darren to revive the fortunes of the club.
“We struggled last season but are looking to establish a more professional structure, on and off the pitch.”
