GREAT Britain athlete Lisa Dobriskey posted a reminder of why she has stepped up to the international stage, winning the women's mile at the Great North Weekend on Tyneside.
The talented Ashford AC runner has struggled to fulfil her potential after being beset by a succession of injuries.
Dobriskey, the Commonwealth Games 1,500m champion, showed her star quality in a top class field clocking a fine 4:38 after out-kicking the Slovakia runner Sonja Roman to win by more than a second.
But the 23-year-old has found life in the fast lane difficult after her success in Australia.
And the main problems have come with ongoing back problems, a torn foot ligament and tendonitis in her foot.
The injuries have severely disrupted her build-up but showed that when she is injury free she can still me a major force in top class races.
