Folkestone Invicta have unveiled three new appointments – all former players at the club – to strengthen the off-the-field team at Cheriton Road.
The move sees former Faversham and Whitstable manager Justin Luchford taking on a scouting role, former Margate chief executive Cliff Egan joining as a commercial and financial advisor, while Dominic Castle will be youth and community officer.
Boss Neil Cugley said: “Justin would like to get back into management. He did a bit for me last season, but is very keen and thorough, keeping touch with what’s happening in the game.”
He added: “We want to push the club on and try and generate more money and Cliff will be able to come in and offer us new ideas, while Dominic’s role is an important one as well.”
Egan said: “It’s like the old gang getting back together. I have known Neil, and people like Micky Dix and Dave Williams, for years. I have been involved with running the club’s lottery for the last two or three years, and I see this as an expansion of that.”
Former Faversham and Whitstable boss Luchford, sacked by the Oystermen in November, is keen to get back into management but revealed he would not be a part of Folkestone’s matchday staff.
He said: “If someone of the stature of Neil Cugley asks you to work with them, you can’t turn it down.”
Cugley confirmed that most of the Invicta squad have already committed themselves to the club for next season. He said: “They are very loyal. A couple, who I won’t name, have still to sign though.”
