Boss Dan Scorer believes Kennington’s next match will be a true test of the progress they’ve made this season.
Ton, 4-0 winners at Cobham in the FA Cup Preliminary Round last weekend, visit Whitstable this Saturday.
Scorer’s side haven’t conceded in three league and cup games since opening the Southern Counties East campaign with a 5-1 defeat against Corinthian.
But he knows Whitstable, a side fancied to challenge under Marcel Nimani this season, will offer a stern test.
“We feel this Saturday is an opportunity for us to really see how far we’ve come since the opening day,” said Scorer.
“We’ve learned lessons in a short space of time but we’re well aware that Whitstable will be a really tough test.
“You have to go there and assess the opening 10 or 15 minutes.
“We’ll set up as we always do.
“We’re always brave in possession and we work hard to win the ball back but you assess that early period and if things haven’t gone to plan and you haven’t seen much of the ball, you can change things slightly.
“We go into every game with confidence, knowing if we can make our system and our style work, then we’re strong against every side.”
Ryan Philpott gave Kennington a half-time lead at Cobham, with late goals from James Haylock-Ashdown and Finlay Dent (2) sealing their progress.
Ton have been drawn away to Isthmian South East Sheppey in the First Qualifying Round on September 2.
“It was a comfortable win,” said Scorer.
“We made hard work of it in the first hour but we got there in the end.
“We went down there with confidence, so I’m glad we delivered.
“I think the scoreline was probably reflective of how dominant we were.
“Sheppey’s an interesting draw.
“With them being one step above us, it teeters on that fine line of do we go there knowing we can get a result if we’re on our game, or do we go there with no fear and just enjoy the occasion?”
Monday’s game against Bearsted has been postponed due to ongoing 3G pitch works at Homelands.
