Even the goal reflected Town’s unfortunate demise a deflected own goal off midfielder Dave Cook in a season that promised so much but ended so poorly.

Erith Town scored six minutes before the interval when a Kevin George corner glanced off the head of the unlucky Cook to fizz into the corner.

With Erith producing nothing going forward and Hythe unable to recapture the flowing direct football that made them such a force this season it wasn’t until the second half when Hythe had to throw everything going forward having conceded just before half time that the game opened up slightly.
