Michael Phillips has his heart set on Wembley after helping Ashford United into the quarter-finals of the FA Vase.
Phillips scored the 87th-minute equaliser in a 3-2 replay win at Dunston UTS, as they came from 2-0 down to clinch an injury-time winner and a last-eight date at former Conference side Salisbury, managed by Steve Claridge, on Saturday week.
Phillips said: “I’ve got a good feeling we can go all the way. Look at the run we’ve had.
“We were 1-0 down against Lordswood and won 5-1, 1-0 down at Newport Isle of Wight and won 2-1 with the last kick of extra time and then 2-0 down at Dunston and won in injury time.
“I don’t want to speak too soon – Salisbury will be tough – but I think we can do it. Days like Saturday remind me why I still play football – for the love of the game.
“Nothing comes close to making my Football League debut against Blackburn but the Dunston game brought it all back."
He added: “The buzz was amazing and to get to Wembley would top off a good non-league career.
“I’ve had a lot of ops on my body. I was 33 a couple of weeks ago and beginning to feel it a little bit.
"A lot of people play their whole career in the Football League and don’t get the chance to play at Wembley, so it would be amazing.
“Everyone’s thinking about it but Lyesey is keeping our feet on the ground.”
Meanwhile boss Danny Lye has made another double signing, bringing in defender/midfielder Chris Saunders and winger Jon Pilbeam who joins from Folkestone Invicta on dual-registration terms.
Third placed United host Beckenham on Saturday - their first Southern Counties East League game since beating tenants Canterbury City 2-0 on Boxing Day.
