Rob Playford grabbed a hat-trick as Ashford swept aside Winchester 4-2 to move back into the top six of South Premier League Division 2.

The former Canterbury forward was in irrepressible form as Ashford put behind them last week’s 6-2 defeat to title contenders Wimbledown.

Paul Cheap was Ashford’s other marksman while Ben Hibberd and Mark Vowels replied for the visitors.

Ashford’s win was their fourth of the season, and on Saturday they are away to bottom club Richmond, who collected only their third point of the season last weekend.
