Hythe boss Scott Porter is adopting a philisophical approach to the club’s mid-table position in the Ryman League Division 1 South table.

Two successive defeats against Guernsey and Ramsgate see the Reachfields side sitting 13th in the table, and while Porter admits they are not firing on all cylinders, he is determined to put it right.

Assessing things 10 games into the new season, Porter said: “It has been frustating - we take one step forward and two steps back but I am not fazed by it.

“We have been here before. This time last season we were bottom, things are not going for us, but there are still 36 games left, the league table is still false in my opinion.

Hythe take a break from the league this weekend when they travel to Whitstable in the Robert Dyas Isthmian League Cup Second Round tie - a fixture arranged following both club’s exit from the FA Cup.

Porter’s men then host Faversham in the Kent Senior Cup next Tuesday, proving tyhe oppostion are not involved in an FA Cup replay.

He added: “They are two games I could do without. I would rather be playing league matches looking for points, but it gives me a chance to give players a run-out.

”Lee Winfield, Jamie Collado, Craig Thompson, John Walker and Taser Hassan will all be involved at Whitstable, while understudy teenage goalkeeper Connor O’ Hara is also set to make his debut.
