Ashford's Olympic cycling champion Jamie Staff has been included in the Great Britain squad for the World Track Championships in Poland, which start in Pruskow next Wednesday.
Staff won gold in the Team Sprint at the Beijing Olympics last summer and, with Olympic team-mate Sir Chris Hoy ruled out the World Championships by injury, Staff will become the most experienced member of the GB squad in Poland.
He will be joined in the men’s Team Sprint team by Ross Edgar, Matthew Crampton, Jason Kenny and David Daniell.
Staff said: “It’s obviously a shame that Chris won’t be riding, but we have got real strength in depth in the squad now and this is a chance for someone else to come through.”
