Charing farmer Peter Bromley goes into tomorrow’s opening round of the NRA Imperial Meeting (National Shooting Championships) full of confidence following another season of impressive results at county level. The 44-year-old travels to The National Shooting Centre at Bisley having already won the Hampshire County Championship and the KM Cup (short range) and Lord Lieutenants Cup (overall aggregate score) during the Kent CRA Spring Open Prize Meeting.
“I’m looking forward to the Nationals,” Bromley explained. “I live in hope that I’ll have a good championship and who knows what may happen. I’m optimistic about my chances and I’m shooting well.
“You have to be confident going into these type of events and a strong mental approach is very important.”
Bromley will start alongside 1,200 other shooters in the opening round at Bisley, aiming to make it through to the final round for a chance of winning the HM Queens Prize. The most coverted prize in Target Rifle Shooting.
Although the rifleman’s season lasts just four months due to work commitments, the nationals being his last tournament of 2008, his confidence stems from his good form shown to date.
“I’m pleased with my performances so far and very pleased that I managed to win the overall Kent title for the third year running,” he said. “I’d never done that before, and considering that once again the Kent Championship was the first time I’d shot this season, the victory was particularly satisfying.”
