SOME of Kent’s leading cyclists will be in action on Sunday in the Kent Cycling Association's 100-mile event, starting from Kingsnorth, near Ashford.
There is an entry of 40 riders for the main event and six riders will be competing in the tricycle event.
Competitors ride an individual time trial, leaving at one minute intervals from 6am.
The leading riders should finish at about 10.15am through to noon.
The bicycle event counts towards the Kent Cycling Association Best All Rounder competition - held over 25, 50 and 100 miles and 12 hours, the Kent Cycling Association time trial league, and the national sporting courses long distance competition.
In addition, the Veterans Time Trial Association Kent Group championship is incorporated within the event and will be competed for by those riders aged 40 or over.
The event is sponsored by Cycle-Ops, a cycle shop in Tonbridge, and the prizes consist of vouchers from Cycle-Ops and Kent Cycling Association medals.
The tricycle event is the tricycle national championship for the Fliss Beard Memorial trophy.
The course starts in Magpie Hall Road, near Kingsnorth, and riders go through Kingsnorth with circuits around Brookland, Brenzett, Rye and Lydd.
Race headquarters in Kingsnorth Sports Pavilion. It is the first time the course has been used for this event.
