Towers School’s treble hopes are still alive after their under-13 girls won the Kent Schools Cup final in emphatic style.

Four-goal Phoebe Cowley led the way as Towers thrashed The Hayes School 8-0 at Beckenham Town to add to their under-14 triumph earlier this month.

Deborah Lanipekun scored two with Evie Fuller and Emily Wood also netting as the girls followed up the under-14s’ 7-1 win over Rochester Grammar at Homelands.

PE teacher Fraser Grimes thinks the girls hit new heights against Hayes.

“In what was their best performance as a team this season, they saved it for the final where, again, there were so many standouts,” he said.

“It would be unfair to mention just a few names. From the first to the very last minute the girls were determined, steadfast and resilient.

“Positive memories have been made for a lifetime.”

Cowley scored three in the match against Rochester, with Lanipekun (2), Lois Potter and Jess Howard also on the scoresheet. Tishe Olunloyo scored for Rochester.

Towers are now just two wins from a third trophy this season - the ESFA Under-14 PlayStation Schools Cup - and take on Surbiton High School today (Monday, March 28) for a place in the final.

They made the semi-finals thanks to a last-gasp 4-3 win over Thornden School in Eastleigh, with Cowley scoring all four goals.

“The girls have never won a Kent Cup for Towers, neither has any team in the school’s history, and they have now won two in two different categories,” Grimes added.

“They are incredibly humble, fiercely competitive and resilient and as a school community, they continue to do us proud.”
