Jason Whitmore is considering his position as manager of Ashford United after they crashed to a sixth defeat in seven games.
Whitmore lost his temper at half-time in Tuesday’s game at Phoenix Sports, where the Nuts & Bolts conceded two goals from long balls through their defence.
Ashford have lost 11 of Whitmore’s 16 games in charge since he took over from Danny Lye in August and are one point off the bottom of Bostik South.
“I’ve been speaking to the board,” Whitmore said. “It’s a results business.
“These are the first three games when we’ve had senior players in, not youth, and they haven’t done it.
“I’m all for the club and this club must move forward.
“If that means a change is needed, even with me, if this can’t be turned around, time is of the essence so I would help find someone else and clear some players out if that’s what needs to happen.
“I wouldn’t hesitate. I don’t take a penny from this football club – it costs me money.
“I don’t do this for monetary gain. I do it for the youth, progressing into the first team.
“My goal has always been to get Ashford into the right place. I believe I can do that, I don’t fail at many things in life, but have we got enough time to get the right players in to do the job we want?”
Goals from Jeff Dish-Kessie and Frankie Sawyer had Phoenix 2-0 up at the break and Ashford never recovered.
Whitmore said: “When you let the ball bounce twice from a long kick on the edge of your box, what do you expect to happen? I wouldn’t let under-14s get away with that let alone grown men.
“Some of the players that are coming in aren’t good enough.
“I lost it in the dressing-room because I felt the two boys let the rest of the team down.”
Ashford host sixth-placed Whyteleafe on Saturday.
