Gary Alexander believes new signing Josh Wisson will add quality and experience to his Ashford United squad.
The 20-year-old midfielder joins the club from Herne Bay where he was a key component of their squad that finished 12th in the Bostik South.
He also has international experience as he was picked for England Schoolboys in 2016.
Manager Alexander said: “Josh Wisson has played a lot at this level and is a good footballer.
“We want to progress and we need to sign players like this if we want to.
“We want to sign players from the local area as well and Josh comes to us from Herne Bay where he’s had an excellent season.
“Herne Bay were having a good season and we had him watched a few times and he’s been on my list for a while now.
“They’ve got a few good young players over there at the club.
“We were pleased to get his signing over the line and for a 20-year-old he has a lot of experience at this level.”
Wisson scored five goals for Bay last season and made more than 50 appearances for the club.
He told United’s website: “I am pleased to be joining Ashford next season.
“I’ve had some good chats with Gary (Alexander) and believe we are going to do well next year.”
Alexander has already added Ollie Rowe, Lea Dawson, Antonio Simeone, Tom Carlse, and Sam Mott to his squad but has not ruled out more signings before the start of next season.
He added: “There could be one of two more signings in the near future but they aren’t anywhere near completed yet.
“Our squad is shaping up well. We have some players in who were unlucky not to be promoted with sides.
“The club deserves improvement and I’m sure these signings will bring that to Ashford.”
