KENT football referee Martin Yerby has again been chosen to officiate at a major cup final.

Yerby, 45, from Ashford, has been chosen as assistant referee for next month’s Carling Cup final between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

It will be his third trip to Wembley in nine months following last season’s Championship play-off final between Derby and West Bromwich and the FA Community Shield between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Yerby said: "Naturally I am delighted as it has taken many years of hard work to earn these appoitments starting in the local leagues in 1986."

He progressed into the Football League in 1998 and was promoted to the Premier League lists in 2000 where he has officiated in over 170 games so far.
