Folkestone manager Neil Cugley has brought striker Michael Yianni back to the club in a straight swap deal which sees midfielder Josh Burchell join Hythe Town.

Cugley said: “I think it suits both parties. Josh has gone a bit quiet over the past couple of years compared to what we hoped he would do. He feels he probably needs a change to get more games and get back his enthusiasm.

“I have to admit that he is now one of our better paid players, so if I’m honest we can probably bring a couple in for the same money.”

The much-travelled Yianni will increase the amount of experience in Cugley’s squad alongside the returning Micheal Everitt, who came on as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup second qualifying round win over Eastbourne United.

The Invicta boss wants to make defender Chris Elliott, who was sent-off against Eastbourne, a permanent member of his squad and is also considering bringing in a more experienced goalkeeper after turning to 16-year-old Tom Hadler for the Eastbourne tie.

Cugley said: “I like the lad Elliott and we have also put in a seven-day approach for another goalkeeper who we should be talking to this week.”

Invicta are at home to Walton & Hersham on Saturday and Eastbourne Town on Tuesday and despite lying second from bottom of Ryman League, Division 1 South Cugley insisted: “We’ve not been that bad. We are playing some good football and we just need a couple of results to turn it around.”
