Police investigation after fight breaks out at Tenpin Bowling alley in Albion Road, Bexleyheath

An onlooker has described chaotic scenes at a bowling alley as a brawl broke out among multiple groups of people.

Police were called to reports of a fight after violence erupted at Tenpin Bowling in Albion Road, Bexleyheath on Friday evening.

Louie Winchester was visiting the site with his friend to play pool when the drama unfolded at about 11.15pm.

The 27-year-old said: “The group involved was arguing with the security man and a group of boys next to us were looking over at them.

“Then it all just kicked off. It was crazy.

In a dramatic video posted on social media, a group of people can be seen swinging punches at each other.

Several young men and women are hit and kicked while lying on the floor near the pool tables.

During the scuffle, one man has his coat ripped to shreds, and a girl is hit with a bottle.

Members of the group can be seen wiping their faces to check for blood, with many seeming to be hurt.

Officers in multiple police cars and vans descended on the bowling alley and found a number of people with facial injuries.

A police spokesperson said: “One person was taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Detectives from the CID that covers Bexley are investigating.”

Mr Winchester, who has lived in south London all his life, told KentOnline he had “never seen anything like it”.

“One of the girls got a glass bottle to the face and was left bleeding on the floor.

“I just went to go and play a couple games of pool.

“I’ve not seen a fight like that before.”

The video of the clash sparked a large reaction on social media, with more than 400 shares.

One person commented: “I’m meant to be there on Sunday. Bexleyheath never changes.”

Another added: “That’s why I never go bowling in Bexleyheath now.

“There are always fights and arguments in there.”
