Police force entry to builder's van parked outside Bromley station

A road was closed and specialist teams called in after a suspicious van was abandoned outside a police station.

A witness said explosives specialists were called in after the white van was parked on the pavement outside Bromley station in the early hours of the morning.

But after forcing entry to the back all officers found was a ladder and a Henry Hoover.

A spokesman for the Met said: “At approximately 2.40am officers attended a suspicious vehicle close to Masons Hill in Bromley.

“The vehicle was found to be non-suspicious.

“Roads were temporarily closed but have since reopened.”

They confirmed a controlled explosion was not carried out.
