A man from Bromley has been locked up for supplying a firearm and cocaine.

Jody Hall, of Carters Hill Close, was sentenced to 12 years following the seizure of guns, £14,000 in cash and 11kg of cocaine at his home.

The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of supplying a firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Mr Hall was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court today.

He was caught under the Metropolitan Police's Operation Eternal, which they describe as "the most significant operation the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has ever launched against serious and organised crime."

The operation has partnered up the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the MPS, who have shared data relating to encrypted messages sent by criminals using a system called Encrochat.

Specialist detectives have been working to uncover the perpetrators behind serious crimes, who are committing them with the help of these encrypted handsets.

A police operation caught Mr Hall taking part in an exchange with a second man, Harry El Araby.

El Araby was then intercepted by armed officers in Mottingham Lane, south London.

He was searched and officers found a Glock handgun with a silencer and 50 rounds of ammunition.

Officers also found £10,000 in cash and an encrypted Encrochat phone.

Armed officers then intercepted Hall, who was also found in possession of an encrypted Encrochat phone.

Officers searched Hall's home address and recovered approximately £4,000 in cash along with 11kgs of cocaine.

While the search was ongoing, Mr Hall admitted to knowing the drugs were there, adding they were nothing to do with his partner, who was present at the address.

A revolver and a Beretta handgun were also recovered from a lock-up garage connected to Mr Hall in Mottingham.

El Araby, of Palmers Road, Bethnal Green, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm, ammunition and a silencer, and was sentenced to six years imprisonment at the same time as Hall.

DC Gio Antoniazzi, the investigating officer, said: "These guns, and every individual bullet, represent a life that could have been lost or changed forever and so I am delighted that we were able to remove them from streets.

"This was a fantastic team effort and the evidence gathered resulted in Hall and El Araby having no option but to plead guilty. I hope this makes people think twice about procuring dangerous weapons.

"We will be relentless in our endeavour to remove lethal weapons and illegal drugs from the streets of London as well as cash gained through such activity."
