A man is in a life-threatening condition after being hit by a suspected drug driver.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in Halfway Street, Sidcup, at 11.22am yesterday.

London Ambulance Service were also in attendance, and the pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

A 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving. He has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

The road was closed between the junctions with Old Farm Road West and Old Farm Road East, into the evening while several police cars remained on the scene. It has since reopened.

Detectives from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses, or other drivers with dash cam footage, to call the appeal line on 0208 285 1574.
