A serving police officer has admitted sending sexual messages to a 15-year-old boy.

PC Will Scott-Barrett, who has been suspended from his role with the Metropolitan Police, sent graphic pictures and videos last year.

He first made contact with his victim in April 2020.

The 33-year-old, from Bromley, is due to be sentenced next month.

PC Will Scott-Barrett, attached to the Met’s Intelligence Command, appeared at Isleworth Crown Court today (Monday) and pleaded guilty to one count of sexual communication with a child.

He was charged on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 following an investigation by the Met’s Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Command.

He was bailed and will be sentenced on Monday, February 28 at the same court.

The charge relates to an allegation made in February 2021 while PC Scott-Barrett was off duty. He was suspended from duty after the initial allegation was made.

Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Rose, Commander for the Met’s Intelligence Command, said: “This type of conduct has absolutely no place within our organisation and PC Scott-Barrett must now face the consequences of his actions.

“We expect exemplary standards from our people, both on or off duty – there is no distinction.

“We depend on the trust of the public and we know that this type of behaviour undermines their confidence in us. That is why we will always act when misconduct comes to light.”

Now that criminal proceedings are complete, a misconduct hearing will take place in due course.
