Bromley man Sean Maurice charged with murder of father Paul Maurice in Widmore Road

A man has been charged with murdering his father after a fatal stabbing.

Police were called to Widmore Road in Bromley on Tuesday evening when a man was found with multiple stab wounds.

Sean Maurice, 29, is due to appear in court today charged with allegedly killing his dad.

Officers have named the victim as 51-year-old Paul Maurice who was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before midnight.

Maurice, of Widmore Road, Bromley, was charged last night and is expected to face the charge at Bromley Magistrates' Court.

Met Police launched an investigation after officers were called to the scene at about 10.50pm along with paramedics and a team from the London Air Ambulance.

Despite emergency treatment, Mr Maurice died and his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by police.

A post-mortem carried out yesterday found Mr Maurice suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest.

Detectives said previously, a man was found on a rooftop at about 3.30am in Burnt Ash Road in Bromley and was Tasered before being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Speaking yesterday Det Ch Insp Chris Wood, who is leading the investigation for the Met Police, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim at this very difficult time.

"We are in the early stages of our investigation and my team are working to establish what has happened here.

"Anyone who has information that could be useful to our investigation is asked to make contact with us."

Police have urged witnesses to call 101 giving the reference 7874/14SEP or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
