Two fire engines attended and firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “It’s believed the fire was caused accidentally after sunlight reflected from a mirror onto bedding which caught alight.”

Following the incident crews are warning the public to ensure all mirrors and reflective objects, such as crystal and glass ornaments, are kept out of direct sunlight.

No injuries were reports and crews left the scene at 1.46pm.
