Woman critically injured after being savaged by dog in Bedwell Road, Belvedere, Bexley

A woman remains critically ill in hospital after being savaged by a dog.

The victim, in her 40s, was attacked inside a property in Bexley shortly before 9am yesterday.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called at approximately 8.55am to reports of a woman being attacked by a dog inside an address in Bedwell Road, Belvedere.

“Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene.

“A woman was taken to hospital for treatment; she remains there in a critical condition.”

Police say a man in his 20s also suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

They add that the dog, believed to be an Alapaha bulldog, was injured during the attack and has since died.

A Taser was also discharged by officers during the incident.

The Met spokesman added: “Officers from South East Command are investigating and enquiries are ongoing.”
