Roads have been closed after a fire broke out on a farm near a horse stables in Bexley.
Around 40 firefighters were called to the blaze in North Cray Road, near Dartford, shortly after 7am.
Four horse trailers, a stack of baled hay and wood chippings were found alight with smoke billowing into the nearby fields.
Witnesses said the fumes could be seen as far away as Swanley.
Mount Mascal Stables in Vicarage Road later confirmed the incident had taken place at their site.
It posted on its Facebook page: "London Fire Brigade are in attendance and all our animals and people as well as our buildings are safe. Access is currently restricted."
Six fire engines from the London Fire Brigade were sent and Vicarage Road was closed in both directions.
Crews declared the incident under control just before 9am but remained at the scene afterwards to continue to damp down pockets of the fire.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Group commander Clinton Walsh said: "Road closures are in place whilst crews work to make the scene safe, so we urge locals to avoid the area.
"Thankfully, there were no injuries and no animals were hurt."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
