A man has died after being hit by a bus.

The incident happened in West Street, Erith, at around 10.25pm last night.

Police and paramedics attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Work is ongoing to identify him.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course and an investigation is now underway following the death.

A Met Police spokesman said: “At this early stage officers are investigating reports that the man was involved in an altercation immediately prior to being struck by the bus.

“Inquiries into the circumstances continue.”
