A man filmed hurling abuse at a mother and daughter and telling them to "go back to Saudi Arabia" is being hunted by police in Bexley.
Officers from the Met Police's South East Safer Transport team are investigating following the incident at around 3.30pm on Monday, August 31 at a bus stop on Broadway.
As part of the investigation they have released the above image. The footage first appeared on social media at the start of September and it is not known why it has taken until now to issue an appeal.
A 35-year-old woman and her seven-year-old child were waiting at a bus stop with a man, who was white and aged in his late 50s, who began calling out random things, including remarks about Muslims.
The matter was subsequently reported to police and is being investigated as a possible hate crime.
A video of the incident posted on social media shows a man talking to a mother and daughter, stating: "I believe it is Saudi Arabia. If you contradict the government they cut your head off. Would you like to live there, where they do that, cut your head off if you disagree with them?"
He then adds: "Your mum's wrapped up like turkey" before the mother replies: "You're a crazy man. Don't talk like this with me."
The man then carries on: "Go back to Saudi Arabia," to which the victim responds: "I don't go. You hate yourself. I think you hate yourself."
"Muslims don't belong here," he replies.
A short while later the woman is heard asking her daughter: "don't cry, please don't cry", and a bystander points out the result of his actions to the abuser.
The man is then confronted by bus company officials, who are heard telling him: "You've come over and given her a load of abuse."
He shouts back: "Yeah she shouldn't be here."
PC Natalie Kempshall, of the South East Safer Transport Team, is investigating. She said: "The woman and her child were minding their own business when they were subjected to needless abuse in broad daylight.
